Team A Step Ahead Profiles

Junior Team A Step Ahead is a division of Team A Step Ahead. The junior athletes range in age from 18 months to 21 years old.

Junior Team A Step Ahead athletes compete and participate in many events including the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged in Long Island, the Learn to Ski Clinic at Camelback Mountain in Pennsylvania, the ASPIRE 10K kids1/2 mile fun run, the Achilles Track Club Hope and Possibility Race in Central Park, New York, indoor rock climbing, and many other sports and events.

Many Junior Team A Step Ahead athletes also participate and compete with their able-bodied peers in community and school sports programs.

Through the adult athlete mentoring program, Junior Team A Step Ahead athletes have the opportunity to meet and talk with their adult counterparts, who provide them support, advice, and encouragement as these children move through adolescence. Providing adult role models to the junior athletes is an important component to the growth of these young people and helps them develop as persons with limb loss.

The junior program of Team A Step Ahead is a constantly growing group of children with limb loss who embody A Step Ahead's motto: Live Life without Limitations!
