Date Of Birth: October 29th, 1972 Current Home: Greenlawn, New York Occupation: Exercise Physiologist Sports: Cycling, Bodybuilding Michael Foresto sustained an above elbow amputation and a traumatic head injury in 1993. Michael has always had a passion for exercise and sports which did not change after his accident. His passion leaded him to develop a patented device to allow upper extremity amputees to participate in a functional strengthening exercise program. Michael decided to pursue the sport of drug free natural bodybuilding in which he competed against able bodied competitors. Hip and knee arthritis has lead Michael to pursue athletic goals through the sport of cycling. Michael will be attending a Paralympic cycling training camp in San Diego in December of this year. His goals are to make the 2008 Paralympic cycling team in road, time trial, and track cycling Highlights: 2007 Bronze Medal - United States National Championships - 1 kilometer race 2006 Competed in the Challenged Athletes Foundation ½ Ironman Diabetic since October of 1985 Patented exercise device for upper extremity amputees in '94 Graduated Long Island University/CW Post in February 1996 with a degree in Exercise Rehabilitation Earned Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification in March, '96 Attended SUNY/Queens College for an MS degree in Exercise Physiology specializing in the effect of exercise intensity on glucoregulation in type 1 diabetes and healthy man Won ABA's East Coast Physically Challenged Lifetime Drug-Free Bodybuilding Championships in 7/99; placed second in overall competition against able-bodied competitors Placed second in Middleweight class in NPC's Natural New York State Bodybuilding Championships against able-bodied competitors Currently training with US Paralympic Cycling Team with hopes of qualifying for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China Competed in the 2006 Challenged Athletes Foundation ½ Ironman Live Life without Limitations!
