On Wednesday, July 9, 2008, Amy Palmiero-Winters, below-the-knee amputee and world record holder, was the only amputee competing against able-bodied women in the LIVE with Regis & Kelly "High Heel-A-Thon." The High Heel-A-Thon was a 150 yard dash for women held in Central Park, New York and sponsored by Dr. Scholl's For Her. Shoe requirements were a minimum heel height of 3 inches and a maximum heel circumference of 3 inches, no wedges, and no shoes that slip on. The event was broadcast live on the LIVE with Regis & Kelly show. Amy was interviewed by Channel 7 Eyewitness News weather reporter Bill Evans and by Regis before the race. She was accompanied by her handlers Jake Lillis and Victoria Cutrone-Foley of Junior Team A Step Ahead. Click either picture below to see video of Amy.
